As we celebrate and begin another new year with much hope and gusto, we are once again served a seemingly dystopian reality- a reality rooted in the environmental crisis, the ongoing genocides, and the resulting disconnection from the self and nature. As we work towards transformative justice, we must remember the very practical power of self-love and healing. Healing is only complete when it is for all living beings. Including you :) This letter is a call to feel natural again, a gentle reminder that personal healing is integral to collective and planetary well-being. In times of disconnection, looking inward, seeking care, and resisting isolation are essential for building harmony and moving towards healthier ecosystems.
illesha has thoughtfully curated this incredible volume. illesha makes art with hope for a more loving world. This work often looks like photographs, poems, films, books, drawings and gatherings. Her practice is her tool to walk the distance of one heart to another. She researches emotions and landscapes, using art as a connector between what is inside the heart and what is around the body. In a constant search for home, her art practice has become a way of home-making. It is something like nesting: collecting, and connecting - documents of life, proof of existence, archives of love.
