Visions In Action
We’re already at the 10th issue of One Future Post! Time flies when you’re building something amazing together, right? This past month has been a whirlwind of activities that helped us build a global community to keep our mission of nurturing radical kindness through feminist leadership, alive and kicking. So, it only made sense for us to focus on the significance of feminist leadership in community building in this volume!
“Our company is worth nothing. That’s the difference between you and I. Business isn’t about money to me, David. If tomorrow my company goes under, I will just start another paper company. And then another and another and another. I have no shortage of company names.” a quote by Michaels Scott from The Office (US), was fittingly referenced by OFC’s founder, Vandita Morarka, in the Building One Future Newsletter on Teams as Communities, May 2024. In this piece, Vandita discusses what it means for a workplace to function as a community and offers much to think about; acting as an opportune precursor to the One Future Post #10.
Feminist leadership thrives at the core of community—it's where the collective wisdom fosters strength and mutual support challenges and reshapes old norms. These spaces, rich in nurturing and support, allow for vulnerability to be a conduit for trust and understanding, creating a resilient fabric that binds everyone. Here, both seasoned leaders and newcomers find inspiration and courage from each other's stories, transforming individual struggles into a powerful collective force informed by shared realities. This interconnected network fuels the movement, driving change through the strength that comes from lived experiences perceived in unity.
On that note, we're excited to share that the Feminist Leadership Hub went live on the 14th of May! We collaborated with FAIR SHARE of Women Leaders, supported by the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Foundation, on this project since 2022, and we were thrilled to launch this innovative platform to connect and empower leaders to navigate the complexities of feminist leadership. Vandita’s involvement has been pivotal in the execution of this hub, marking a significant step in fostering a global community of feminist leaders. This exciting new chapter of community building and transformative leadership aims to create a world where every leader is supported and inspired by a network of peers dedicated to advancing social justice. Whether we're building communities around the world or connecting remotely via our team’s weekly check-out calls, each interaction brings us closer together. Our shared passion is what drives us forward.
Here’s to making more connections, embracing new challenges, achieving great things, and turning our visions into real actions.
Cheers to moving forward, together!
What’s New(s)?
Aside from the launch of Feminist Leadership Hub, here is a list of other key events at OFC since One Future Post #9:
In April 2024, Kuhoo Tiwari represented us at the Strengthening the CIVICUS Alliance and Steering Committee meetings for the Vuka! Coalition for Social Action in Latvia. They collaborated with global civic society leaders to foster collaboration among civic organisations worldwide. This event served as a platform for exchanging ideas, gaining insights, and strengthening networks, all of which will bolster our mission to advance a more just society.
In May 2024, Vandita Morarka represented us at the W7 Summit in Rome, serving as an advisor on gender and social justice. They played a key role in developing a communique that aimed to advance gender equality. Their recommendations for a sustainable and gender-just transformation will be considered during the upcoming G7 to ensure intergenerational gender equity.
